Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Released 07/08/2016                              Rated: R

I liked this movie better than I thought I would. It didn’t delve much into the raunchy humor at all like I thought it as going to. I could have done with about half of the masseuse scene, but that was as bad as it got. There was actually a good bit from the trailers that didn’t make it into the movie, so I’m wondering if they’ll release an unrated version when the DVD comes out, which I would dig. I kinda want to see what other antics the girls got into.

I was worried it was going to be obnoxious. Mike and Dave screenrant.comput out an ad on Craig’s list for a couple of nice girls to take to their sister’s wedding. Tatiana and Alice, a couple of bad girls, see them on TV, and find a way to trick the boys into taking them. They all get to Hawaii, and Tatiana and Alice drop the act, no longer needing to pretend to be nice, since they got the free trip to Hawaii. The guys realize they’ve been conned, and are, at first, lost, but then angry. This is not the plot of the movie at all. Alice has recently been dumped by her fiance, and is still hung up over it. Tatiana, trying to help her friend get out of her funk, suggests they go on an adventure, which she has to get creative about as they have no money. The girls try to keep the charade up for as long as they can, but then things start crashing down around them.

There ended up being a bit of heart in the film, which I am very happy about. There could have been more, but I’m not going to complain. I did want some more character development, but I suppose in the case of these characters, baby steps are necessary. But it’s a comedy; the main purpose is that the audience is entertained. I’ve definitely laughed more at other movies, but for some reason I really liked Mike and Dave.
